Dr. Thomas Dixon Keffer (1843-1921) was the grandson of Michael Keffer who, with his brother Jacob, had settled in Vaughan Township in 1806. Thomas, after graduating in medicine from Victoria College in 1866, set up his practice in Petrolia and married Eliza Wade. Eliza later died leaving Thomas with three children. He relocated to Beeton and met Jane Evans whom he married in 1873. They eventually settled in Tottenham and had seven children.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of a manuscript detailing the life of Dr. Thomas Keffer, two letters written by Dr. Thomas Keffer to his wife in 1873, his essay on beds written in 1867, and a medical instrument possibly used for bloodletting.
