These photos were originally in posession by Mary Devins (1872-1958), who had collected photos of the Bernath family (particularly photos of her son Leighton Bernath). The Bernath family lived in Nashville, were active in the area and were related to the Dalziel family. James Bernath (1839-1895) provided land for the Nashville Presbyterian Church ca. 1902 and Lorne Bernath sat as the Nashville Postmaster from 1938-1945. Mary passed on these photos to her granddaughter Helen Martinic, who has since been divesting these items to local archival institutions.

Scope and content

Items consists of eight (8) photos of members of the Bernath family, nine (9) certificates, and one (1) handrwitten genealogical account of members of the Dalziel, Goodfellow, Bernath and Devin family. The Bernath family was an active family who lived in Nashville ca. 1900 and are related to the Dalziels. Photos include:
1) interior of the Jas. Bernath Farm in Nashville (June 8, 1928)
2) Group photo including: Clara McDonald, Jane Splan, John, Elizabeth Webster, Lavina Mitchell, Arbet, Ellen, Mary Bernath, Sarah Burkitt, Louise Jackson, Peter and Omar.
