Vellore Women's Institute fonds [Textual record and other material]

Fonds consists of minute books, 1915-1982, delineating deliberations, decisions, and activities of the Vellore Women's Institute, as well as occasionally citing the names of members and officers; and Vellore Tweedsmuir history (present in original and microform). Main topical subjects addressed in the latter include: Vellore Women's Institute and its contribution to welfare and development of the community; general community history including geography and topography of the locale; municipal government; agriculture; architecture; education; trade and commerce; histories of individual farms and families; religion; experiences of the community in Canada's wars including namers of volunteers in both conflicts; the Vellore Literary Society; the Vellore Band; transcribed reminicences of such individuals as Mrs. Ann Davidson, and Elizabeth Ann Snider; (extensive coverage of Rutherford Barn Raising, 1929; as well as history of hamlet of Teston; and Purpleville School (S.S #11).
The 2002 accrual consists of the papers from the Woodbridge Agricultural Fair and the Canadian Association of Exhibitions; minute books of the Vellore Women

Vaughan Township postcards

Series consists of postcards. Series is the product of the activity of the Vaughan Township Historical Society in the area of acquiring documentation relating to the history of the City of Vaughan and its antecedents; all such material is as a matter of policy donated to the City of Vaughan Archives. Individual postcards constituting the series were purchased over time at various public auctions. The series depicts physical aspects of a number of villages and hamlets in Vaughan Township, as well as the independent Village of Woodbridge. Specifically, images address a number of subjects: dams, churches, cemeteries, bridges, streetscapes, buildings, railroads, mills, bird's-eye views, etc.; geographic jurisdictions within Vaughan Township covered include Kleinburg, Maple, Teston, Pine Grove, Edgeley, and Nashville.

Vaughan Township Churches Collection

Collection consists of research notes, draft and final manuscripts, correspondence, financial documents, reports, and photographs generated as a result of the Society's compilation and publication of monograph: Somerville, Patricia, and Macfarlane, Catherine, eds. A History of Vaughan Township Churches (Maple, 1984). Fonds chronicles history of the churches and congregations of Vaughan from 1803 to 1984.

Collection consists of images copied by SPOHT to act as reference tools for the organization in the execution of its functions and attendant activities. Index card-mounted images were classified by subject and fully described by the collection compiler, with subject cross references provided. Subjects devised by SPOHT include artists, children, churches, cemeteries, clubs and groups, families, farms, festivals, hotels and taverns, houses, old swimming hole, people, radial cars, recreation areas, schools, sports, stores, streetscapes, transportation,village doctor, village undertaker, women's group's, Yonge Street families.

Saint Stephen Anglican Church Fonds

Fonds consists of a parish register, delineating births, confirmations, marriages, and burials from 1832-1981; vestry minutes, 1843-1859; accounts, 1854-1939; collections, 1845-1853; communion record 1846; vestry books, 1898-1985; and Women's Auxiliary minutes, 1960-1969. Specifications of parish hall, 1962, etc. in original fonds but were not included in the microfilm copy provided to the City of Vaughan Archives. Fonds also constituted of minute books from the Anglican Church Women, 1902-1964; correspondence, newsletters, newspaper clippings, service programs and pamphlets, parish directories, photographs, slides, videocassettes, a history of the church, and various artifacts such as offering dishes and a communion visitation set.

Fonds consists of parish annual reports, and sesquicentennial history (published 1979), and cemetery records. Cemetery records composed of somewhat sparse notes on interees, and a ledger which includes transcriptions of headstones, a plot index, and recordings of financial transactions; ledger also includes 7 photoprints of the cemetery grounds as they appeared in 1938.
