Item consists of a manuscript that contains memories of Olive Arlow growing up on the farm just outside of Elder's Mills. Topics include: farming, local businesses, schools and churches, Hurricane Hazel, WWII, scarlet fever, polio and quarantines, snowstorms, and local families and individuals.

Collection consists of manuscripts with people's memories of growing up or living in Vaughan. Includes stories and memories of buildings, people, businesses, roads, storms, schools, churches, etc. Some responders even included copies of images and artwork.

Ed Price fonds [Graphic material, sound, and Textual records]

Fonds consists of items related to Ed Price's service during World War II. Oral history interview recorded on sound tape cassette, 1990 Apr. 6, and copies of military identification card and sports champion certificate of Bomber Group R.C.A.F. Volleyball Tournament, 1945 Jul. 7, and copyprints of Sergeant Price, 1945, and of championship team of above referenced tournament. Oral history interview focuses on Mr. Price's wartime experiences and Vaughan Township's reaction to World War II.

Edgeley Women's Institute fonds

Fonds consists of: Minute books, 1913-1993 (1926-1937 volume is missing) delineating the deliberations, decisions, and activities of the Edgeley Women's Institute; minute books also include lists of officers and directors, attendance records of members, and cash book entries and general financial statements. One separate cash book, 1988-1993. Programmes, 1921-1981. Edgeley Tweedsmuir History, which in addition to a history of the Edgeley area from 1792 includes a list of guest speakers that addressed the institute, biographies of certain members, lists of officers and members who held offices at the district and provincial level. There are also notes and draft chapters for the Tweedsmuir History, as well as a manual for the latter's compilation issued by the Ontario Women's Institute, and a number of original documents collected as research material for the history. The fonds also includes a photograph series constituted of two aggregates; the first focuses on the membership and activities of the Edgeley Women's Institute. The second consists of historic photographs relating to Edgeley; some notable images include the Edgeley School with pupils assembled in front, 1888, a turn-of-the-century barn raising, a steam tractor converted to power a circular saw, 1900, and the interior of a typical 1920's farmhouse.

Facility and Maintenance Services fonds (formerly Buildings and Facilities Department fonds) [Graphic material and other material]

Fonds consists of various materials received by the Facility Maintenance Service Departments from various City locations and departments. The majority of materials are graphic in nature and include artwork and pictures left behind in the Old Civic Centre and by other departments. Accession (RG 22-012.1) consists of materials that were transferred to the Archives in June of 2012, following the opening of the New City Hall in March of 2011. This accession included 13 items:

  3. 8 Fire Escape Routes (showing layout of old civic centre) + 1 fire escape route booklet
  4. Vaughan Coat of Arms (wooden disk) - Deaccessioned November 27th, 2014, to allow for the Coat of Arms to be rehung in the Council Chambers.

The second accession (RG 22-014.1) included 2 paintings that had been hung for many years in the Woodbridge Public Library, that were left for Building and Facilities to dispose. These items included 2 paintings by Susan Gibson of the effects of Hurricane Hazel on the Woodbridge River. These paintings were created in 1957 and given to the Woodbridge Public Library where they were hung until November of 2014.

The third accession (RG 22-016.1) consists of items received by the City of Vaughan in recognition of programming, events and work completed by the City. These materials had been transferred to Facility Maintenance Services by other departments and eventually transferred to the Archives in March of 2016. Included in this accession are:

Free Masons Vaughan Lodge by-laws and Royal Canadian Air Force squad drill and individual training instructions

File consists of by-laws and training instructions. Ordinances for 1891 passed by the Free Masons Vaughan Lodge, no. 54, to deal with internal management and to exercise local regulatory functions. Instructions delineating individual and close order squad drill techniques and procedures prevalent in R.C.A.F. during World War II.

John H. Thompson fonds [Textual records and other material]

Fonds consists of reproductions of material generated as a result of J. H. Thompson's war experience with the Royal Canadian Air Force: photographs depict Thompson and various members of 245 Squadron, as well as their aircraft, most notably the Typhoon with which the unit was equipped from mid-1943 (the Typhoon was a ground-attack aircraft specializing in the destruction of armoured vehicles and like precision ground target; flown at very low levels, casualties from ground fire were considerable); also present are images of Hawker Hurricane and Tomahawk fighterplanes; the former equipped the squadron until mid-1943, when it was issued with the Typhoon and the latter served as a trainer; noteworthy among the photographs are particularly poignant images of fighter crews after battle over Holland in Autumn 1945 fraternizing with Dutch children and socializing among themselves. The fonds also includes copies of contemporary newspaper clippings relating to war news and recent vintage newespaper clippings recounting Thompson's war experience; German propaganda dropped behind Allied lines in an attempt to demoralize the invading forces; Thompson's Certificate of Service in the Royal Canadian Air Force, delineating the particulars of his service; target map for Le Fresne-Camilly, France in August of 1944; various certificates of qualification: as pilot, for formation flying, altitude tolerance test, etc.; Thompson's complete flight log for 1941 to March 1945; after-action reports of 245 Squadron for 8 July-29 Sept. 1944. M009.19 accession composed of an issue of the Globe and Mail newspaper from Jan. 24, 1944 and three artifacts: one pair of boots, one pair of galoshes, and one belt with a gun holster and ammunition pouch which belonged to John Thompson.

Accession M021.1 contains books that document the history of flight/aviation, the role of RCAF during World War II and related topics. The accession also contains a model plan, video of a German plane, a mug, magnet, nails, a plaque and a couple of framed photographs.

Maple Board of Trustees Fonds

Fonds consists of agreements, motions and resolutions, minutes, minute books, cash book, reports, summons, and correspondence with occasional site plan attachments; also noteworthy is an illustrated roll of the names of individuals who volunteered for active service in Canada's fighting forces during World War II. Chronicle Board's activities and functions, as well as relations with other jurisdictions, particularly Vaughan Township, and other corporate bodies and individuals within and without its area of authority.

Maple Knit-Wit Club fonds

Fonds consists of a single volume of typed minutes, fincancial statements, lists of Maple residents serving in Canada and overseas in various military service branches (e.g. navy air force, etc.); includes snapshots of membersof the Club and Maple servicemen, newspaper clippings, including published letters of thanks from Maple men serving overseas.
