Louis Theriault collection

  • CA CoV Archives MG 64
  • Collection
  • 2005-2010

Collection consists of a CD with images of barns throughout Vaughan taken between 2006 and 2010 by Louis Theriault as well as an identification list. Also a write-up of the history of the Woodbridge Pro Hardware and Gift Shop once owned by Charles Shaw. Also photos taken from Louis' rooftop of historical structures being demolished on Islington Ave (Pat Horst house, Andy Ferguson house, Snider house, Fred Wright house) and a 150 unit condo building being built.

Accession M015.27 consists of two paper copies of signs and posters that once hung within Vaughan. The first, a sign for the "Burwick Tin and Sheet Iron Factory" was from Shaw and Gould and produced in May of 1855. Louis received several copies of the sign through the Black Creek Pioneer Village Print Shop in December of 2015. Frank Shaw, who was from Kleinburg, had given Louis an old copy of the poster many years ago, but the original was sent to Montreal over 30 years ago. The second poster "Motorcycle Hill Climb" is also a copy of a poster that Louis still has in his possession. It is believed that the poster was created in the 1950s, as Fundale Park was renamed to "Dr. McClean Park" in the 1950s.
