Custodial history
Incorporated in 1882, and headed by an elected council, the Village of Woodbridge civic administration evolved from an organization based largely on the Office of the Clerk to a general agency possessing an administrative hierarchy constituted of a combination of departments, committees, commissions, and boards; the latter developed over time in response to the demands placed on council by a rising population requiring ever-increasing levels of municipal service. On 1 Jan. 1971 Woodbridge was amalgamated with Vaughan Township to form the Town of Vaughan.
