1969 Township of Vaughan Fire Department Annual Report

File consists of one (1) 1969 Vaughan Township Fire Department Annual Report, submitted to Reeve Garnet A. Williams by Fire Chief Jas. W. Davidson. The 18 page report outlines the Fire Department's activities throughout the year and includes statistical and operational data about the Township's four fire stations (18 Spruce Avenue, Sherwood & Keele, Pine Grove and Kleinburg). Of particular interest in this report are the number of investigations conducted throughout the year, as well as the budget and actual operating cost of the department for 1969.

Fonds consists of images taken by Ms Pacchiarotti in an unofficial capacity documenting the presentation of original 1868 architectural plans of the Vellore School by the Vaughan Township Historical Society to Archives Vaughan in 1989 Dec., and the completion of the new archives facility earlier in the same year.

Bowes family fonds [Textual record]

Fonds consists of a speech given by Ms. Rumble on the occasion of the unveiling of a plaque, located on the site of the original Bowes homestead, commemorating the contribution of the Bowes to the area. The Bowes line is traced back to 16th century England, but the speech principally concentrates on the descendants of Anthony Bowes (1789-1870), who settled on Lot 3, Concession 2, Vaughan Township in 1831. Fonds also includes a family tree and history of the Bowes and Maxwell families, with particular emphasis on William Maxwell, son of Anthony and Ellen, and his wife, Ann. Other properties of note are Lot 7, Concession 2, Lot 10, Concession 3 and Lot 11, Concession 3.

Fonds consists of one "visitor's book" which includes the commentsof the Public School Inspector and School Superintendent during their annual inspection, in addition to comments made by occasional visitors (teachers from other local schools, etc.); this volume also includes the minutes of the annual meetings of the school's trustees, 1868-1890; and lists of pupils and the fees required of each to attend the school. Fonds also includes a history of the school; a list of teachers; and 4 photoprints depicting the brick structure and students as it appeared in 1957, with one photoprint doing the same for [between 1876 and 1879].

Fonds consists of cashbooks, ledgers, miscellaneous financial documents, minute books, programmes, and correspondence; the aforementioned records delineate deliberations, decisions, activities, financial transactions, and members and officers. Fonds also includes the Woodbridge Tweedsmuir history, a large format 5 volume local history of the Woodbridge area compiled by the members of the Burwick Women's Institute since 1947; the history contains numerous photographs and postcards. Fonds also includes miscellaneous printed matter reflecting the affiliations of the institute.
