York Music Festival Committee fonds

Fonds consists of official programmes of the York Music Festival; these in addition to outlining the names of participants, judges and the festival's itinerary, include the names of the committee members, and brief commentaries on local events and history, in addition, local business advertisements are present.

Fonds consists of annual year books and show books; these provide lists of officers and members of the board of directors, programmes hosted by the Society for the year, show rules, essays on a variety of subjects related to horticulture by members and non-members, with contributions from the Ontario Dept. of Agriculture being particularly prevalent; general membership lists and lists of junior members are also present, as are local advertisers who supported the Society financially.

Accession M024.3 consists of Woodbridge Horticultural Society Yearbooks, photographs of displays and materials promoting the 100th Anniversary in 2023.

Fonds consists of correspondence, administrative files, by-laws, newspaper clippings, scrapbooks, financial documents, membership lists, fair program and prize lists, legal documents, advertising and promotional material, videocassettes, photoprints, postcards, posters, and ephemera. Most records generated as a result of administration of the Woodbridge Fair with subject matter including Miss Woodbridge Pageant, space requests, general activities, exhibits, Woodbridge Fair Parade, Woodbridge Centennial, livestock judging, etc. M999.9 accession constituted of the Woodbridge Fall Fair papers such as programs, posters, applications for permits, newspaper clippings, correspondence and photographs. The remnants of a tin time capsule from 1924 that was opened in 1997 are also included along with the contents of the time capsule including: 1921-1924 Woodbridge Fair prize lists and letters written by Daniel C. Fonds consists of minute books, 1915-1982, delineating deliberations, decisions, and activities of the Vellore Women's Institute, as well as occasionally citing the names of members and officers; and Vellore Tweedsmuir history (present in original and microform). Main topical subjects addressed in the latter include: Vellore Women's Institute and its contribution to welfare and development of the community; general community history including geography and topography of the locale; municipal government; agriculture; architecture; education; trade and commerce; histories of individual farms and families; religion; experiences of the community in Canada's wars including namers of volunteers in both conflicts; the Vellore Literary Society; the Vellore Band; transcribed reminicences of such individuals as Mrs. Ann Davidson, and Elizabeth Ann Snider; (extensive coverage of Rutherford Barn Raising, 1929; as well as history of hamlet of Teston; and Purpleville School (S.S #11).

Vaughan Township Office of the Clerk-Treasurer fonds

Fonds consists of records reflecting the abovenoted functions: correspondence, assessment and collector's rolls, printed matter, minutes, financial and legal documents, judicial reocrds, voters lists, tax arrears material, etc. Major subjects addressed include transportation, agriculture, economic development, the Great Depression, the World Wars, Clergy Reserves, labour issues, electoral reform, etc.

Vaughan Lodge fonds [Textual records and other material]

Fonds consists of a number of textual records that elucidate upon the activities of the Vaughan Lodge and its relations with the Vaughan Township community, and other local and higher Masonic authorities. One of the most significant constituents of the fonds is an invoice book; this is a 297 page scrapbook with early correpondence with the Grand Lodge of Ireland, the Grand Provincial Lodge, the Grand Lodge of Canada, petitions, early by-laws, first auditors reports, Lodge installation notices and invitations, financial documents, lists of members, etc.; a list delineating the specific contents of the invoice book accompanies the latter. Other records include minute books for 1855-1865, 1886-1897, 1927-1946, 1993-1997; membership registers, 1889-1906, 1939-1955, 1973-1989; cash books, 1863-1891, 1875-1934; velvet covered Bible with stitching "Vaughan Lodge No. 54 A.F. & A.M." on coverboards; summons' for attendance, 1914-1933, 1939-1986 (include lists of officers and delineate offices, committees, etc.); a typescript by Neil J. McDonald entitled "A History of Vaughan Lodge A.F. & A.M., No. 54, G.R.C., 1934; and a pamphlet under identical title by the same author, 1990; sundry material relating to other local lodges. Fonds includes 26 photoprints taken in 1993 and depicting various artifacts of the lodge: tapestries, banners, furniture, swords, Masonic tools, etc. ; also decpicted are certain documents, such as the Lodge Warrant (framed), and interior of the Vaughan Lodge facility in King Township. The fonds also consists of a number of three-dimensional artifacts, being the Lodge's symbols of Masonry: 1 Worshipful Master's gavel, 2 Warden's gavels, 1 skerrat, 1 square, 1 compass, and 1 chisel.

Fonds consists of legal documents generated as a result of legal dispute between Geo. Stegman's widow, Mary Ann, and Wm. Boulton over title to the Stegman lands, which incidentally went to Boulton by court order in 1862: agreements, conveyances, indentures, bills of complaint, etc. Fonds is fragmentary.

Fonds consists of family histories and genealogical material, histories of schools and churches in Pine Grove and Woodbridge as well as the communities themselves, photographs, photo albums, scrapbooks, architectural drawings of the St. Margaret Mary School, diplomas, report cards, invitations, certificates, awards, programs, maps, correspondence, newspaper ad layouts, newspaper clippings, and commemorative coins from the 1991 inauguration of the City of Vaughan. Also includes County of York uniform promotion examination certificate documenting promotion of Mary O'Rourke of the Pine Grove School and an indenture between Alfred and Harriet Gooderham, grantors, and Michael O'Rourke, grantee. Also contains "1833 it was -- a trading post and granary 1989 it is -- a house of the 20th century", an unpublished essay by Norberta O'Rourke which details the history of the Elliot Trading Post and surrounding area, originally constructed on Lot 11, Concession 8, Vaughan Township in 1833.
