William G. Everist fonds

Fonds consists of one photograph of unidentified woman (presumed to be William's sweetheart) in brown leather pouch with William's address in England written on back, one Waltham gold pocket watch with inscription on inside (Presented to Spr. Wm. G. Everist by Township of Vaughan for services in the Great War 1914-1919), and two service medals War and Victory with accompanying textual record from Edward Morrison on behalf of King of England.

J. Lawrence to V. Tisdale letter detailing Upper Canada Rebellion : [1837]

Item consists of a copy and transcription of a letter written by John Lawrence to his cousin V. Handon Tisdale on Dec. 26, 1837 detailing the events of the 1837 Rebellion along Yonge St. from the perspective of the those loyal to Britain.

Fonds consists of newspaper article on Help's Penny-Wise sale in 1978, proposed land use maps, campaign material for the 1972 election when Jim Cameron, Bill King, Mike Bevan and Claire Coates were running for Council with support from KARA, a report on Transit in Vaughan 1973, and newspapers, coins, and programs from Vaughan's inauguration as a City in 1991.

File consists of 1963 photographs of Stan Sellen and his family and a neighbor, Bert Whitty, at Carrville Post Office (at that time their family home) which was built by Thomas Cook in 1844 and became the post office in 1965. Conservative Fete Thornhill photoprint [Graphic material]

Item consists of a photoprint (copy) of a conservative fete in Thornhill. Original belonged to owner's grandfather and owner believes photo depicts grandfather's Stump or Patten side of the family. Man with beard in photo could be related to owner's great grandfather, Robert Reuben Stump. Robert was the son of Joseph Stump who, as a child, came with his family in 1804 from Pennsylvania to Vaughan Township. Joseph's brother Jacob stayed in Vaughan until he died and is buried in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.

Corporate Communications Department Collection

Collection consists of textual records and ephemera collected and produced by the City's Corporate Communications Department. Included in this collection is a Pierre Berton "In Memoriam" Book, contained within a three-ring leather binder. This book was provided by Corporate Communications to Vaughan staff and residents in 2004, and contains messages of support and sympathy for the passing of Berton in November of 2004.

Accession RG 25-016.1 consists of 8 items of resource and Vaughan historical significance. Included are four copies of the City of Vaughan Crest patches, two mini DV recordings of the inaugural council of December 6, 2000 and one copy of "Allegiance: The Ontario Story".

Accession RG 25-017.1 consists of 7 items related to the City of Vaughan's 25th Anniversary celebration in 2016 and include one (1) vinyl X-frame banner that was on display in the main hall, five (5) large vinyl banners that hung in the atrium, and (1) fabric print media wall with the 25th logo used as a backdrop during media events.

Accession RG 25-018.1 consists of 838 CDs, containing photos, videos and presentatons of past City events. Commissioned by Corporate Communications, these CDs contain a snapshot of various city-run events from 1995-2015.

In 2022, additional materials from this fonds were transferred from the JOC vault to the archives at City Hall. These included five plaques and medals with Italian language, one of which references Sora. In addition, there was one plaque from Italy (1993), a picture pf 4 Japanese children, a certificate from the Ontario Skills Development Office that was scanned by Mayor Lorna Jackson (1987) and a poster by the City of Vaughan Community Relations Committee.

Items consists of eight (8) photos of members of the Bernath family, nine (9) certificates, and one (1) handrwitten genealogical account of members of the Dalziel, Goodfellow, Bernath and Devin family. The Bernath family was an active family who lived in Nashville ca. 1900 and are related to the Dalziels. Photos include:
1) interior of the Jas. Bernath Farm in Nashville (June 8, 1928)
2) Group photo including: Clara McDonald, Jane Splan, John, Elizabeth Webster, Lavina Mitchell, Arbet, Ellen, Mary Bernath, Sarah Burkitt, Louise Jackson, Peter and Omar.
