Stan Sellen (1926-), is a retired painter who was once a resident of Carville. Using the method of en plain air, Stan spent the 1960s -1980s travelling throughout Vaughan and capturing the landscape in both watercolour and pen and ink. Stan and the Sellen family once lived in the Carrville Post Office and his family was involved in the restoration efforts of the Post Office building from 2009-2013.
Scope and content
File consists of digital copies of eleven (11) watercolour prints and seven (7) ink sketches taken of Vaughan scenes. The images include Vaughan structures, barns and fields throughout the 1970s and early 1980s. Not all locations of photos have been identified but copy prints of the digital images have been included in the collection. Upon scanning the paintings, five additional images were found on the verso of the watercolours and have been included in the collection as well.
